dismiss라는 단어. 학교 다닐 때 무시하다로 많이 외웠었는데

여러 가지 의미로 사용되는 대표적인 동사라 정리해봤습니다.

 

dismiss를 영영사전에서 검색해보면 

to decide that something or someone is not important and not worth considering

어떤 물건이나 사람이 중요하지 않고 고려할 가치가 없다고 결정하다라는 의미라고 나옵니다.

 

dismiss의 기본 의미는 중요하지 않다고 여기는 행동을 가리키는 거죠.

이 기본 의미에서 4가지로 파생되어 사용됩니다.

기본 의미를 머릿속에 넣고 읽으면 자연스럽게 이해가 됩니다.

 

1. not take seriously 

우리가 가장 흔하게 아는 '무시하다' 의 의미입니다.
